A good day for the stable on the track, but an even better day for the team with stable apprentice, Stephanie Lacy, riding a double at Doomben (her 6th and 7th metropolitan wins) and in doing so, outriding her provincial claim.
Steph rode Checkmate Lad to a well deserved victory in the first race, and later rode the Tom Bourke trained Red Chase who in an amazing finishing burst made up 10 lengths in the straight to win.
This achievement means that Steph has ridden 120 provincial winners, so loses her 1.5kg claim, but is still able to claim 3kg in the city, and she will use it to great advantage no doubt when she rides stable favourite Irish Constabulary at the Sunshine Coast on Saturday.
Congratulations to Steph; you are in the big league now but you have shown us great things and we look forward to your ongoing success!
We caught up with Steph last year and interviewed her about her background and her achievements to that stage.
