In the late April, early May update, Gary Gray talks to John Symons about current activities in the stable.

The 15 horses in full work at the stable are all in excellent condition and impressing the team as they start rolling out one by one onto the racetrack. Jumpouts last week saw some very impressive performances, especially by Dealing’s Done, the Press Statement colt, the Headwater colt, Whiskey and Beer and Without Thinking, whilst Irish Ace raced strongly on Sunday after a flashing jumpout.

Although it has been a frustrating week with no access to the grass track, the horses continue their slower, conditioning work on the synthetic track, and many just need a few solid grass gallops to tighten up for race fitness.

Pleasingly, the pipeline is growing with the horses with the longer term injuries like El Maestro, Set Me Up, Love Demon and So Dapper recently starting their pretraining fitness regimes, along with a couple of fillies that have needed time in the Star Witness and the Starcraft.

Talented horses like Il Toro d’Oro, She Shall Rule, Dutch Delight are spelling and will add to the strong ranks when they return, whilst some of the younger horses continue to grow and mature.

All in all exciting times and John mentions we have never been in such a good position with the horses, and in a few weeks will be very busy with lots of racetrack activity!
