A good draw, a firm track, and a good ride by apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor, combined with outstanding preparation by the Esprit Racing team all combined for 4yo Without Thinking to win the BRC FAMILY RACEDAY 30 JULY No Metro Wins Handicap over 1805 metres at Eagle Farm.

Sent out a $3.20 favourite after two strong recent performances, the gelding jumped well from barrier 5 and found the rail quickly behind the leader. Travelling well during the run, he did look the likely winner prior to the turn, but at the top of the straight the gap did take a few strides to appear. Kyle was able to pick the horse up, push through the gap and build through his gears, and whilst his rivals were finishing strongly with momentum, the son of So You Think was strong on the line to win by 0.4 of a length in the time of 1:51.05 with the last 600m in 0:36.10.

The win was a great effort after injury saw him off the track for 9 months, and he has now returned to his best with improving fitness and confidence after 5 runs back. A relief for trainers John and Sheila who see his ability every day at trackwork but always want to see them do it on the racetrack after an injury.

Congratulations to the team and to all his connections.
