Irish Constabulary rounded off his preparation for the Magic Millions Country Cup on January 14 with a workmanlike effort at the Sunshine Coast today.
After speedy mare Tibrogargan Miss reared at the start, the race became a messy affair, but apprentice Bec Williams didn’t panic; she rode a very patient race and held Irish together in the heavy conditions, to outgun the main danger Drumbeat’s Choice under hands and heels riding.
He was a little susceptible today, so trainers John and Sheila were thrilled with the effort of both horse and rider.
For Irish Constabulary, this win (his 6th from 16 starts), will have him in perfect condition for his main aim this campaign, in 10 days time on the Gold Coast.
His owners around the countryside are all rapt, and win, lose or draw, everyone knows that they will get a fantastic effort from the fellow they call Irish!
