A wonderful performance by Irish Constabulary today at Doomben. From his wide barrier, he was forced to sit 3 wide for the majority of the journey, was still able to take the corner 4 wide and simply charge away from his opposition in the straight to win convincingly.
The win defied the pattern of the day given the wide rail placement, so it was very meritorious and sets him up to contest stronger grade next time.
Trainers John and Sheila, and jockey Sarah Eilbeck were all thrilled with the effort and it continues their excellent connection they have forged up there in a short time.
This brings Irish’s Queensland campaign to 2 wins and 2 seconds from 4 starts, so he is doing a wonderful job for his owners, and it was great to see several of them on course celebrating loudly, and in once case, tearfully!
