A wonderful training and riding effort by John, Sheila, Jaden and the team today at Doomben!
The team took 4 horses to the races, with a result of 2 good winners in Set Me Up and Dovetail Diva, a slashing 3rd by Mission of Love, and a very encouraging return to racing by She Shall Rule…….and the team is on a high.
Jaden Lloyd rode two brilliant rail hugging rides on the winning pair, whilst Larry Cassidy stormed home from near last to run 3rd, so they were doing it from everywhere today.
It was great to see Set Me Up rise in distance and class and perform so impressively, rewarding everyone who were most patient whilst she was off the scene for over a year through injury. She looks likely to keep improving now she has reached the distance she dearly wanted to perform at her best.
Similarly Dovetail Diva had not raced since January, and she was expected to be a little suspect late through fitness, but class prevailed as the big girl fought off her main challenger in the last 50m. It’s onwards towards the Magic Millions carnival for this classy mare.
Mission of Love and She Shall Rule both performed very well to commence their campaigns, and with several good horses returning in the next week, it looks like a good summer is approaching.
