An early 11.15am start to Saturday’s races at Eagle Farm saw Denoninator shrug off his recent bad luck by winning convincingly.

Ridden superbly by class jockey Micheal Hellyer, Denoninator dropped to the rear of the field in the bm75 2200m handicap, and waited patiently until they’d passed the 800m marker before he was asked to quicken around the rest of the field.

He responded admirably, hitting the front half way down the straight but then had to dig deep when War Baby put up a decent fight over the final stages.

With Denoninator conceding War Baby some 6.5kgs it was a titanic  effort to draw away in the final stages to win by 3/4 length with the third horse 5 lengths further back.

The last 600 was run in 36.01 which makes his last 600m extremely good as he was several lengths off the leader at that stage.

The big, black gelding has pulled up very well indeed and John is studying the calendar to see what other Saturday city distance races might suit this dedicated race horse!

Congratulations to his great band of loyal owners and to Micheal for an excellent ride.

Thanks again to Grant Peters at www.tracksidephotography.com for the photography.
