In a very strong sprinting effort, bonny 8yo mare Simply Ming recorded her first win in Queensland today in the www.SCTC.com.au Benchmark 70 handicap over 1000m on the Sunshine Coast.

Despite missing the start by some 2-3 lengths, Ming was rated very patiently by apprentice Adam Sewell, in a position where she was comfortable some 5-6 lengths from the leader. Never leaving the rail, she charged through in the straight to overwhelm the favourite and leader, Shepiktus, to win in a good 57.62 seconds.

The win was Simply Ming’s 6th win, and her first for 18 months, but she has an outstanding consistency with 17 placings in 24 attempts at the distance, so the win was well deserved. Back in form, she can be followed with confidence.

For the Esprit Racing stable, it was excellent to have a win whilst John and Sheila are away in New Zealand, so great work by everyone.

Congratulations to all concerned!
