A wonderful horse, wonderful training, wonderful tactics and wonderful execution!
Not much more can be said to explain Irish Constabulary’s last to first performance in the $75000 Winning Edge Presentation Handicap over 1050m at Doomben.
First up over a distance he had never won at, on a firming track, trainer John Symons instructed apprentice Jackson Murphy to drop Irish off the pace and never to panic, confident that with hectic pace on he could rip off the sectionals to storm over the top.
And that is exactly what happened; keen to get going when several lengths away from second last at the 550m mark, Jackson paused and waited until straightening to swing the 10yo to the centre of the track, and he grew wings to fly past the field to win by 3/4 length.
One of Irish’s finest moments, and again he treated his many owners to great celebration on track and across the countryside.
It’s not just about the $480,000 prizemoney, it’s not about about the $31 he paid……. he’s just wonderful!
