The last race is quite often the ‘get out’ stakes for punters, and no doubt Without Thinking was being relied upon to win yesterday at Ipswich at the short quote of $1.55.

Given a great ride by jockey Michael Hellyer, there was never really any doubt as the classy son of So You Think stylishly glided to victory over 1350m.

After his last win where he was taken to the rear from a poor draw, and unleashed an astonishing performance to win, this was more tradesman like. He jumped well from the inside draw, and was crossed to lead so sat third on the fence behind the leader.

Always travelling well within himself, but keen to get going, Michael pulled him out into fresh air prior to the home turn, and he balanced up well to win running away comfortably.

A great training effort by John and Sheila; the poor weather and training track renovations have made it extremely challenging in terms of being able to get horses fitter for racing, so to be able to win a race at any level is testament to their skills. Obviously this fellow also had class on his side, and he seems destined for far better things as he rises in distance and his classes.

Where he goes next will depend on his recovery this week, but he is sure to be placed to advantage wherever he goes.

Congratulations to all involved and to his owners.
