The recent decision to get Simply So onto a tighter track to ensure she gets a stronger race tempo paid dividends with an impressive win at the Gold Coast yesterday.

The mare has a history of overracing in the middle of her races when the speed slackens, wasting a lot of energy that impacted the finish to her races. The move to the tighter Ipswich then Gold Coast, plus the extension to 1200m, provided a more consistent tempo, helping her to relax and have energy in the tank to finish strongly.

Settling at the rear, as is her custom, she always looked to be in a striking position and pounce she did when Larry Cassidy straightened her and released the brakes.

A great piece of Esprit Racing training and perseverance to understand the nature of the horse and to adapt accordingly.

Congratulation to all concerned!
