After a 9-month layoff from the track after injury curtailed her summer campaign in January, Mission of Love displayed her talent first up with a slashing win in the Sky Racing Pink Ribbon Raceweek Trophy F&M Class 1 Handicap over 1200m.
In just her 5th start she was sent out a resounding $2.20 favourite, and from a good draw for once, Jaden Lloyd was able to be sitting midfield on the fence; close enough to run them down in the straight.
With his now familiar switch across heels, she was suddenly in the clear and put the race beyond doubt in a couple of strides to win with her ears pricked by 2.8 lengths….
Jaden suggested post-race that she will win better races than today’s race, and most viewers would agree with that call. “She’s a Beauty” was Sky racecaller Josh Fleming’s comment after they crossed the line…hard to argue with.
Being from a High Chaparral mare, 1200m is not going to be her go, but we will wait for John and Sheila to decide how quickly she now goes up in both journey and grade.
Congratulations to all concerned with today’s great win!
