A great end to a frustrating couple of weeks, with Secret Statement taking out his second victory in the CALOUNDRA RSL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP over 1000M at the Sunshine Coast.
With wide barriers, big fields and rain thwarting grass gallops, John and Sheila had struggled to get this fellow into a suitable race and elected for today’s race despite the uncertainty as to whether he would handle the heavy 10 track.
Handle it he did though, with jockey Robbie Dolan letting him jump and holding him together outside the leader until the straight where he kicked clear to win relatively unchallenged in the time of 58.82s.
With the formline from his last run proving to be quite strong, Sunday afternoon punters jumped on board, and they were never too concerned.
That is two wins from 5 starts and some $36,000 prizemoney so a good effort and he continues to improve as a racehorse.
