Great to see, (or for many not to see when Sky Racing lost transmission at race time), Cape Denison win her maiden very convincingly at Warwick yesterday.
In her first attempt beyond 1200m, she clearly appreciated the more relaxed tempo of the 1500m and settled in the back half of the field. At the 900m jockey Michael Hellyer commenced his move around the outside and she moved stylishly into the race. By the time they rounded the home turn, she was sitting 3 wide but already looked the winner and she charged away in the straight to thrash her rivals.
She was a bit wayward in the straight, out there on her own, having a good look around before being straightened up on the line.
Congratulations to all her tremendous owners; she clearly is ready to be competitive back closer to town over the slightly longer distances, and the win will be a good confidence booster for her, and her owners!
